Created to celebrate the deep & timeless bond between the snake symbol and the world of art, the two limited-edition Serpenti Forever Handbags are a collaboration between visual artist SOPHIE KITCHING & BVLGARI. Designed in New York, handmade in Florence and unveiled in Paris during Fashion Week – Haute Couture, this bespoke work of art celebrates the 75th Anniversary of the Serpenti Icon. The duality of the snake and its infinite power of transformation is exalted by the nature-inspired motifs, brought to life in an exuberance of color.

US-based artist Sophie Kitching applied her conceptual approach to her two interpretations of the Serpenti Forever top handle bag—revealed at our Serpenti in Art event. Focusing on the duality of the snake emblem and its powerful transformations, Sophie’s Serpenti creations play with the opposing forces of day and night.

SOPHIE KITCHING’s Nocturne Serpenti creation is an homage to the musical compositions of the XIXth century, which are evocative of the night. Using black ink mixed with Payne’s gray as a backdrop, her painting offers intricate interplays of color on the canvas surface, while delving into the representation of light and shadow. Sophie Kitching combines oil paint, Japanese watercolor and pastel, in carefully selected earthy shades enhanced with notes of turquoise, Venetian red, and bright yellow. Fragments of abstracted nature emerge, where vegetal and floral elements gradually fade to reveal the portrait of a vision: subtle, distinctive, and powerful.

SOPHIE KITCHING’s Invisible Green Serpenti creation is inspired by the color used in English parks to blend architectural structures into the surrounding nature. The English garden emerged in the XVIIIth century as idyllic and wild, whilst being simultaneously contained. Sophie Kitching’s composition of abstract, overlying brushstrokes reveals an interplay between the seen and unseen. Color becomes a gestural foundation, embellished with an array of prismatic greens, adding in glimpses of fuchsia, cadmium red and yellow. Her painting explores the melding of forms through time and memory, gradually evolving into a single image: fresh, vibrant, and free.
