About the paintings
The Invisible Green series refers to a specific tone of green invented in the Georgian/Regency era in England, which was used on gates, conservatories and trellises to give the impression they are disappearing into the surrounding vegetation. Canvases of abstract, gestural strokes evoke a tension between the seen and unseen. As with a building obscured by trees, these paintings explore the gentle but gradual melding of forms by time and human recollection, the separation of each element fading as time passes, and the landscape slowly growing into a single image.
